Year 3 Curriculum
As our pupils enter into Year 3, they begin to follow the National Curriculum framework for Key Stage 2.
As with the previously three years, both Talk for Writing and a mastery approach to Mathematics are utilised within the year. Moving on from phonics, spelling in Year 3 follows the 'No Nonsense Spelling' scheme.
In addition to the subjects domains covered in Year 1 and 2, Year 3 sees the introduction of weekly French and Computer Science sessions.
Our curriculum design ensures that each year group develops and builds on the knowledge of the previous. Prior knowledge is recapped at the beginning of each new unit and as with previous years, new knowledge is presented in small steps. Quizzing, questioning and direct instruction enable our pupils consolidate, develop and apply their understanding in a variety of contexts.
The following documents outline the minimum amount of knowledge that will be taught to Year 3 pupils throughout each unit.
