Lego Therapy
At Godmanchester Community Academy, our LEGO Therapy programme provides a fun, hands-on way for children to develop social communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Delivered as a small group intervention, children work in groups of three during a weekly session, building models and completing structured challenges together.
Sessions are carefully planned and supported by trained staff, ensuring that every child can participate, contribute, and benefit from the experience. While children focus on creating models, they are also learning important life skills, including:
-
Communication and language skills – expressing ideas clearly and listening to others.
-
Teamwork and collaboration – working together to plan, build, and solve problems.
-
Patience, resilience, and perseverance – managing challenges and celebrating success.
-
Confidence and self-esteem – taking pride in achievements and learning to share ideas safely.
LEGO Therapy is particularly effective for pupils who benefit from structured social learning and provides a supportive environment for practising skills that can be transferred to classroom learning, friendships, and everyday interactions.
Through LEGO Therapy, children not only build impressive models — they also build stronger social skills, independence, and confidence, making it a valuable part of our school’s approach to supporting the whole child.
