Our whole school assembly this week looked at the British Value of Individual Liberty.
After discussing the concept of 'New Year, New Me?', we explored how important choices are in our lives.
We learnt that Individual Liberty means we have the freedom to live our lives and express ourselves in a way that we choose while respecting and protecting the rights of other people.
The children then shared some of the choices they have in life - we heard a lot about the range of breakfast options available! We ended the assembly by thinking about why having choice and the ability to express oneself freely is so important and what our lives might be like if this was not the case.
The children all agreed that in having the right to express ourselves, we are contributing to our own wellbeing.
